Dear AEG members, What a great turnout for the April meeting. We had twice our normal turnout. Part of me thinks it was the choice of beverages but I will admit that Nick Sitar did have a great presentation and there was an interesting mix of geologists and engineers, old timers and young'uns. We apologize for the long wait for food, noise and unfamiliar surroundings. Which brings me to my point on the importance of our monthly meetings. There have been discussions over the years for having our meeting at the same venue each month. We use to have it at the Engineers Club in SF until it closed. A consistent meeting place makes sense in that there is no confusion as to "where is the AEG meeting this month" or " I really don't like driving all the way to San Leandro". What we are considering, and what the officers of AEG would like is some feedback on the concept of have our meetings at Sinbads in San Francisco each month. Actually it would be 10 months a year as we usually take October off and the joint ASCE/ AEG meeting is usually at Spengers in November. I would like to hear from our younger members and those that don't frequent our meetings as often to obtain feedback. I am off to the mid-year Board meeting on April 21-22 and will provide a summary and update next month. Enjoy the Springs and see on next month.
